Youth Events Project (YEP)
During 2007 a group of young people supported by Gateshead Youth Council will organise 3 area events in 3 areas in Gateshead, the areas the young people have chosen to work in are:
- Area 1 - Lamesley Ward
- Area 2 – Teams, Bensham & Saltwell Wards
- Area 3 – Chopwell & Rowlands Gill Ward
The following is how the young people plan to carryout the project in each area:
- Do detached work to;
- find out what issues are important to young people in the area
- find out the theme of the event
- recruit young people to plan & organise the event
- find out what activities young people in the area want to take part in
- Plan and organise the event.
- Contact organisations in the area to ask them to provide a market stall for their project.
- Promote the event by doing more detached work and produce publicity.
- Carry out the event.
- Evaluate what happened so the young people involved can learn from the process.

While the project is being carried out young people will also ask young people from the areas to record their opinions about the issues that affect them by using audio, video, writing and art.
