Support to Organisations

GYC provides support services to all youth organisation in Gateshead, from Uniformed to Faith groups, community centres to youth clubs, providing an important independent voice.  All organisations are self supporting, the majority with independent voluntary committees.   Many aspects of support are requested on a day-to-day basis, from finance guidance, governance, resources and training.  Opportunities to come together to discuss wider issues take place from time to time.

Concerned Youth Movement of Liberia

Support continued during 2010 helping to provide funds to assist CYML with their youth project. 

Unfortunately in September 2010 GYC received the very sad news of the death of Harrison Ngafuah, the Coordinator of The Concerned Youth Movement of Liberia, after catching a serious infection from a gunshot wound he received during an ambush by robbers on his way back from Ghana, where he had been applying for a visa to visit us, in Gateshead. He was an ambassador for his country, his organisation and Young People who faced extreme circumstances, and he only thought of others. He is much missed.
